Senior Financial Adviser

Our client is a long-standing oil & gas organisation.  With a history spanning over 100 years, this ASX top 50 company has, at its core, a commitment to social responsibility and ethical practice, which sees it give back to the community across its operations.
They are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Financial Advisor to Partner with the Exploration Business Unit. The Exploration Business Unit is responsible for finding and appraising new resources.
The Finance Function supports the Exploration Business Unit through The provision of financial services and advice; managing and optimizing Oil Search’s liquidity and capital requirements; coordinating and preparing budgets and forecasts; providing financial control through reporting and analysis of financial information; maintaining and optimising financial systems; meeting compliance and regulatory obligations; providing the business with competent finance resources to assist in ad-hoc finance related processes.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Exploration business unit to provide a serviced-based approach to all aspects of financial support including cost control, reporting, advice, budgeting, forecasting and planning, and ad hoc requests
  • Ensure monthly financial records are accurate for all Exploration Cost Centres and Projects Ensure that the monthly joint venture billings statements are accurate and complete in conjunction with Financial Services team based offshore
  • Ensure joint venture relationships are maintained: responding to queries on all financial and accounting figures, ensuring that cash calls are raised and cash is collected
  • Ensuring compliance with the Joint Venture Operating Agreements
  • Ensuring non-operated Joint venture positions are reviewed and queried
  • Monthly management reporting with analysis of underlying variances and cost drivers to support decision making
  • Provide accounting and commercial advice on proposed or completed transactions
  • Uphold and steward requirements of the company’s Finance Control and Governance Standards
  • Support Head of Finance – Exploration & Evaluation with ad hoc tasks as required

 
Required skills:

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Competent with ERP, BI Systems, and Microsoft Office tools
  • Exposure to SAP will be beneficial
  • 7+ years of relevant experience ideally in resources or related industries
  • Previous experience working on large long-life projects
  • Ability to influence and engage at GM Level
  • Business Partnering experience essential
