Strategic Energy Management Consultant – 12 month initial contract

Australia’s leading climate change management consultancy is seeking an experienced consultant to undertake an exciting secondment in Canberra. The appointee will relish the opportunity to play a role in helping Australian business and government departments adapt to our changing climate and unlock the opportunities that lie in a net zero economy.

The role
This is a new position created to drive forward a large program of strategic work on renewable energy and energy management for a large Federal Government agency over the coming years. A core requirement is the ability to work with stakeholders in Energetics and across the client organisation nationally on technical, commercial and contractual elements of the program. 
 
The successful applicant will be based in Canberra where they will be seconded into a large Federal Government Agency. They will report to the Project Manager (based in Sydney) and there is an expectation of monthly travel to Sydney and / or Brisbane (once Covid conditions permit).  
 
Skills required / desired:

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering background with previous energy experience (renewable and/or efficiency)
  • Previous client facing roles with Government clients
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Innovative and proactive
  • Adaptive with ability to develop solutions to complex problems 
  • Collaborative approach
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical and ability to work with data and models
  • Ability to translate strategic direction into project definition
  • Co-ordination and project management skills
